Delete Your Account
Last updated: May 19, 2026
This page explains how to delete your GoodSam account, what data is removed when you do, and what data we may retain. GoodSam is operated for users in Anchorage, Alaska and beyond. If you have any trouble deleting your account using the steps below, email us at support@goodsam.com and we will delete your account on your behalf.
Option 1 — Delete in the app (fastest)
- Open the GoodSam app and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
- Tap Privacy & Security.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion in the prompt. Your account and personal data are removed immediately.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app (for example, you have already uninstalled it or you no longer have access to the device you signed up on), email support@goodsam.com from the email address associated with your account with the subject line "Delete my account."
We will verify your identity (typically by replying to the email on file) and delete your account within 7 business days of verification. You will receive a confirmation email when deletion is complete.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove the following from our active production systems:
- Your profile (name, email, phone number, ZIP, photo or avatar)
- Your demographic information (birth year, gender, ethnicity, disability status)
- Your bulletin posts, task requests, and comments
- Your messages and chat history
- Your service-hour logs and check-in records
- Your notification preferences and push-notification tokens
- Any background-check application data you stored in the app
What we may retain
A small amount of information may be retained after deletion, only as necessary for legal, safety, or operational reasons:
- Backups. Encrypted database backups may contain your data for up to 30 days before being overwritten on our normal backup-rotation schedule.
- Safety and abuse records. If you were the subject of a verified report involving safety, harassment, or violation of our Terms of Service, we may retain a minimal record (account ID and the nature of the violation) to prevent re-registration.
- Aggregate, de-identified statistics. Counts and aggregate demographic statistics used for grant reporting and impact analysis are retained indefinitely, but they no longer identify you individually.
- Records we are legally required to keep. If a law, subpoena, or court order requires us to retain specific records, we will retain only what is required for the time required.
Background-check applications
If you used GoodSam to prepare a State of Alaska Background Check Program (BCP) application, deleting your GoodSam account does not affect any application you already mailed to the State of Alaska. The State of Alaska BCP is the controller of those records. Contact the State of Alaska BCP directly to request deletion or correction of records held by them.
