Terms of Service

Please read these Terms carefully before using GoodSam. They explain your rights and responsibilities as a member of our community.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using GoodSam, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of GoodSam after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
GoodSam is a community platform that connects foster families with volunteer helpers ("Good Samaritans") for tasks such as transportation, meals, tutoring, childcare, and errands. GoodSam is a coordination tool only. We do not employ volunteers, guarantee services, or assume responsibility for interactions between users.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you represent that all information you provide is accurate and current. GoodSam reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@goodsam.com if you suspect unauthorized access. Each person may maintain only one account. Accounts are non-transferable.
5. Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers ("Good Samaritans") agree to: • Only commit to tasks they are genuinely able to complete. • Arrive on time or provide advance notice if unable to fulfill a commitment. • Treat all foster families and children with respect and professionalism. • Not engage in any behavior that could endanger minors. • Comply with any background check requirements requested by a foster family or GoodSam.
6. Foster Family Responsibilities
Foster families agree to: • Post only genuine, lawful requests for assistance. • Provide accurate information about the help needed. • Treat volunteers with respect and appreciation. • Not share personal information about foster children publicly within the app. • Comply with their foster care agency's guidelines regarding third-party interactions.
7. Community Code of Conduct & Zero Tolerance Policy
GoodSam has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Any user who engages in such conduct may have their content removed and their account suspended or permanently banned without notice. Prohibited content and behavior includes, but is not limited to: • Harassment, threats, intimidation, bullying, or stalking of any user. • Hate speech, slurs, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic. • Sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise objectionable content. • Content that endangers, exploits, or sexualizes minors. • False, misleading, fraudulent, or deceptive postings. • Commercial solicitation, spam, scams, or phishing. • Impersonation of another person, organization, or GoodSam staff. • Sharing of personal contact information of others without consent. Reporting and blocking. Every user can: • Report any user, message, or bulletin post they find objectionable using the in-app Report function (🚩 / "Report User"). • Block any user from Profile → Privacy & Security → Blocked Users, or directly from a profile or chat. Blocked users cannot message you and their posts will be hidden from you. Our commitment. GoodSam reviews every report and acts on objectionable content or abusive behavior within 24 hours of receiving the report. Action may include removing content, warning the user, suspending the account, or permanently banning the user from the platform. Repeat or severe violations will result in immediate permanent removal. To report a concern, use the in-app Report function or contact us at support@goodsam.com.
8. Safety & Child Protection
The safety of children in foster care is our highest priority. Any user who becomes aware of potential child abuse, neglect, or exploitation must report it to the appropriate authorities immediately. GoodSam will cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations. Accounts involved in any conduct that endangers minors will be permanently banned and reported.
9. Privacy
Your use of GoodSam is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using GoodSam you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Intellectual Property
The GoodSam name, logo, app design, and original content are owned by GoodSam and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.
11. Disclaimers
GoodSam is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not endorse, verify, or background-check users unless explicitly stated, and we are not responsible for the actions of any user.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GoodSam and its officers, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or interactions with other users. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (if any).
13. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms, endanger safety, or engage in fraudulent activity.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
